As markets abroad offer pent-up demand for exports at the start of the 2022 New Year, China's sewing machinery industry in January finished exports of over $345 million USD. It has additionally set a new monthly export record.
Due to the Spring holidays and the interruption of COVID19 epidemic cases spreading, China's sewing machine export during January and February has seen a major drop. It is a level more or less equal to the previous year. The overall sewing machinery industry in China has maintained last year's expansion momentum.
Part 1: Total Exporting of China Sewing Machine in January and February 2022
According to data released by the Customs, China has in total exported sewing machinery worth 535mn USD in January and February, growing 15.15% compared with the same period the year before. Specifically, it has exported industrial sewing machines of 850 thousand sets worth 289mn USD; its export volume has grown 18.33% on a year-on-year basis, and its export value 37.30%.
According to the Chinese Customs, China exports a total of 535 million USD of sewing machine tools and equipment during the first 2 months of 2022. It's a growth of 15.15 percent over the previous year. In particular, the country exported the
Industrial Sewing Machine type totaling 850,000 units worth US$289 million. Its year-on-year growth is 18.33 percent in volume, and 37.3% in value.
Part 2: Exporting of China Sewing Machine in January 2022
In January 2022, China exported $345 million in sewing machinery. It's a 26.60% increase compared with January 2021. And a 13.14% increase when compared with December 2021. The country's monthly export hit a record high.
Specifically, 540,000 sets of industrial sewing machines were exported with a value of 184 million USD in January. Its export volume and export value grew 24.63% and 47.71% respectively compared with the year before. And by 21.90 % and 18.36 % respectively, the export value of industrial sewing machines over the past month grew versus the previous month. The monthly export value of industrial sewing machines has reached a record high in recent years.
Part 3: Exporting of China Sewing Machine in February 2022
The export value of the continent decreased by 1.02 percent in February 2022. And it decreased by 44.66 percent in the preceding month compared to the previous month, amounting to 191 million US dollars.
During the month of February, China exported a total of 310 thousand industrial sewing machines for a value of 105 million USD. It grew 8.74% as much and had a growth of 22.21 percent over the year-ago period. However, it sold 42.68 percent less and dropped 42.97 percent in comparison with the previous month.
Part 4: Country's Data of Sewing Machine Export in January and February 2022
Among the top three destinations for the first two months of 2022, India, Vietnam, and the US were the top three destinations of China's sewing machinery exports.
India surpassed Vietnam as the largest market for exports from China in January and February 2022. India imported $60.36 million worth of sewing equipment from China. That is 16.07 percent more than the year before. That contributed to 11.28% of the gross export.
China shipped 58.3 million USD worth of such equipment to Vietnam in the first two months of 2022, up 28.94% from the same period in 2021. It is accounting for 10.90% of the sector`s total annual export in that year. And China also shipped 28.54 million USD to the United States, up 0.57% year-on-year, accounting for 5.33% of the total export.
The export of Chinese sewing machinery and equipment to Pakistan, Bangladesh, Singapore, Indonesia, and Cambodia, among others, has increased compared to the previous year in this industry.
The industry imported 20.90 million USD worth of sewing gear in February, cutting 10.17 % on a year-over-year basis, and dropping 47.02% from January. Despite this, exports to countries like Vietnam, Bangladesh, Singapore, Turkey, and Cambodia climbed compared with the same month in the prior year and rose for countries like UAE, Malaysia, Mexico, and others even more than twofold.
