Now, sewing workers in garment factories should worry about their jobs. In 2018, softwear automation is a high-tech company developing automatic sewing machine production line. Recently, the company developed a sewbot automatic sewing machine.
How powerful is sewbot? Sewbot is an ultra-high speed automatic sewing machine, which can automatically complete the whole process from taking cloth to finished product without manual intervention. However, this product is still in the testing stage, and can only sew clothes of regular shape and pure color. In the future, the company plans to continuously improve sewbot, sewing a T-shirt in 22 seconds and costing 33 cents. That is to say, sewing workers are either facing a pay cut or being dismissed.
Fortunately, at this stage, automatic production is still in its infancy. Taking sewbot as an example, we can only make some simple and regular pure color clothes. More complicated clothes still need manual work, let alone some high-end clothes that need to be made by hand.
At present, automatic production can only be used in some specific scenarios with simple repetition and large quantity, and it will take a long time to replace workers.
