Industrial Sewing Machine production and sales, import and export will decline
The demand for textile and garment equipment (including textile machines and sewing machines, etc.) has continued to decline since 2018. The output of industrial sewing machines in 2019 dropped to the level of 2017, about 6.97 million; Affected by the domestic economic downturn and the shrinking downstream demand for clothing, the domestic sales of industrial sewing machines in 2019 will be about 3.08 million, a year-on-year decrease of about 30%.
From the perspective of 100 enterprises, in 2019, the output of 100 enterprises of industrial sewing machine is 4.1708 million units, and the sales volume is 4.23 million units, with the production and sales rate of 101.3%. Affected by Sino US trade disputes and the slowdown of international and domestic demand, the import and export of industrial sewing machines will decline in 2019.
1. China's industrial sewing machine output has declined, with 100 enterprises accounting for 60%
From the perspective of China's industrial sewing machine output, in 2016-2018, with the upgrading of industrial products and the promotion of downstream industry prosperity, the industrial sewing machine output achieved rapid growth, reaching 8.4 million units in 2018, the highest in recent years. According to the data of China Sewing Machinery Association, the output of China's industrial sewing machines in 2019 was about 6.97 million units, a year-on-year decrease of 17.02%, and the output fell back to the level of 2017.
In 2019, a total of 4.1708 million industrial sewing machines were produced by the 100 backbone enterprises tracked and counted by the association, a year-on-year decrease of 22.20%, accounting for about 60% of the total output of the whole industry.
2. China's industrial sewing machine market tends to be saturated, and domestic sales remain sluggish
From 2015 to 2019, the sales volume of industrial sewing machines fluctuates. In 2019, due to the increasing downward pressure of the domestic economy, the escalation of Sino US trade disputes, and the periodic saturation of the market, the downstream demand for clothing will shrink significantly, and the domestic sales of sewing equipment will slow down to negative growth. In 2019, the domestic sales of industrial sewing machines will be about 3.08 million, a year-on-year decrease of about 30%, which is slightly lower than the level in 2017.
3. China's 100 enterprises industrial sewing machine production slowed down, production and sales rate hovering low

4. International and domestic demand slowed down, import and export showed a downward trend
China's sewing machinery exports are mainly industrial sewing machines, accounting for nearly 50% in 2019. Affected by Sino US trade disputes and the slowdown of international demand, the total annual demand for industrial sewing equipment in the international market will decline in 2019. According to the data of the General Administration of customs, in 2019, the industry exported 3.8938 million industrial sewing machines, a year-on-year decrease of 4.21%, and the export value was 1.227 billion US dollars, a year-on-year increase of 0.80%.
From the perspective of the import of industrial sewing machines, the import quantity and amount of industrial sewing machines showed an increasing trend from 2016 to 2018, reaching 50900 sets and 147 million US dollars respectively in 2018, the highest value in recent years. In 2019, the cumulative import volume of industrial sewing machines was 46500 sets, with the import value of 106 million US dollars, down 8.67% and 27.81% respectively on a year-on-year basis.
